Who are Mind in Salford?

Mind in Salford is an independent charity which is affiliated with the Mind federation. This includes around 120 local Mind associations.

Mind in Salford work closely with other local Mind associations throughout Greater Manchester and campaign with those further afield to fight for better mental health nationally. They are strongly committed to supporting everyone in Salford with a mental health issue. They also believe in building a resilient community where we all help each other and strive and campaign for better mental health care. A place where we can talk freely about our mutual mental health struggles and create responsive and welcoming services. A place where multiple marginalised identities are understood and celebrated.

Since 1972, Mind in Salford has been providing mental health and wellbeing support to the local community, and its services have grown over the years to support more people in our local area. Throughout this, Mind in Salford have been committed to social justice and challenging the stigma and discrimination to defend the human and civil rights of people with mental health issues.

What mission, vision and values do Mind in Salford have?

Their mission is to use fierce compassion, diverse expertise and a person centred approach, to campaign and provide radically caring, impactful services that make a positive difference to the well-being and mental health of the local people.

Their vision is to make a positive difference to the wellbeing and mental health of local people and to have a society that is compassionately supportive and respectful.

They value:

  • Lived Experience – as your strengths and lived experience shape and impact their work to support and fight for better mental health.
  • Respect – as they recognise intersectionality and value our differences – strive for equity for all.
  • Community – as our community is at the heart of everything they do! They listen and respond with supportive expertise.
  • Compassion – as they are motivated by compassion and provide support without judgement to help you improve your resilience and self-care.

The Collaboration between UK Debt Service and Mind in Salford

Money and our financial situation can have a big impact on our mental health and how well we feel. Money worries can make our mental health worse, which in turn can then impact on our ability to manage our money. At Mind in Salford, they strive to ensure that everyone with mental health difficulties has access to support and that they are treated fairly and with respect. They provide welfare rights and impartial debt support for people in Salford who are over 18; are Salford residents or registered with a Salford GP; and who have a mental health condition. For more information and to speak to a member of their team, visit their website or call 0161 710 1070

UK Debt Service are proud to be working with MIND in Salford to bring awareness, education and support to tackle the link between financial difficulties and mental health. Our collaboration together provides monthly blogs on key topics, news, and campaigns surrounding money and mental health. Such blogs provide a host of information and signposting to relevant organisations and events to help empower and support you, as well as taking active steps in breaking any stigma, discrimination, and barriers.

Our corporate support with Mind in Salford gives us the privilege to attend network and fundraising events, workplace training and to proudly donate.
