The energy crisis is really gripping the UK this year. An estimated 4.5 million of UK households are living in fuel poverty. UK electricity prices have risen by 66.7% and gas by a massive 129.4% in the past year. Many are unable to afford to heat their houses to an adequate temperature and with April’s review of the energy price cap, the number in fuel poverty is expected to rise to 8.4 million.Citizens Advice reported that in January 2023, they dealt with an increase of 22.9% of calls in the year where most were regarding fuel debts. Many are concerned about what effect being in fuel poverty will have on UK adults.
